Frequently asked questions
What is Base64 encoding used for?
Base64 represents binary data or text using only 64 safe ASCII characters. It is used to embed images in HTML and CSS, send attachments in email, and store data in JSON or URLs where raw bytes would break.
Is Base64 encryption?
No. Base64 is an encoding, not encryption. Anyone can decode it, so never use it to hide passwords or secrets.
What is URL-safe Base64?
It replaces + with - and / with _, and drops the trailing = padding, so the result can be used in URLs and filenames without escaping.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. HushConverts converts everything with code that runs in your browser, so your text and files stay on your device. You can even use most tools offline once the page has loaded.
