How to use the Resize Image tool

  1. Drop one or more images.
  2. Choose a percentage, or type a width and height.
  3. Download the resized images.

Pixels, percentages and aspect ratio

An image’s dimensions are its width and height in pixels. A 4000 × 3000 photo has 12 million pixels; resizing it to 2000 × 1500 keeps the same shape with a quarter of the pixels, which usually makes the file about four times smaller.

The aspect ratio is the relationship between width and height. With Lock aspect ratio on, you can type just the width or height and the other side is calculated, so nothing gets stretched. If you type both, the image is fitted inside that box without distortion. Turn the lock off only if you really want to change the shape.

Frequently asked questions

How do I resize without stretching?

Keep “Lock aspect ratio” on and set only the width or height. The other side is calculated for you.

Can I make an image larger?

Yes, but enlarging can’t add detail, so the result may look soft.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. HushConverts converts everything with code that runs in your browser, so your text and files stay on your device. You can even use most tools offline once the page has loaded.
