How to use the Date Difference Calculator tool
- Choose a start and end date.
- Tick “Include the end date” if both days should count.
- Use the section below to add or subtract time from a date.
Counting days correctly
By default the calculator counts the days between two dates, the way you’d count nights in a hotel: from Monday to Friday is 4 days. Tick Include the end date when both the first and last day count, such as the length of an event or a leave request; Monday to Friday is then 5 days.
Weekdays and deadlines
The weekday count includes Monday to Friday and leaves out weekends. Public holidays differ by country, so subtract any that apply. To find a deadline, use the add and subtract section: for example, 30 days from an invoice date, or 6 months from the start of a contract. Adding months keeps the same day of the month, or the last day if that month is shorter.
To work out someone’s exact age, use the Age Calculator.
Frequently asked questions
Should I include the end date?
For “how many days until”, leave it off. For counting days of an event or a stay where both the first and last day count, turn it on.
Are public holidays excluded from weekdays?
No. Weekdays are Monday to Friday. Subtract any public holidays that apply to you.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. HushConverts converts everything with code that runs in your browser, so your text and files stay on your device. You can even use most tools offline once the page has loaded.
