How to use the HEIC to JPG tool
- Drop your HEIC photos onto the box, or click to choose them.
- Choose JPG or PNG and the quality.
- Download each photo, or all of them as a ZIP.
HEIC vs JPG
Since iOS 11, iPhones save photos in HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) by default. It stores the same picture in roughly half the space of a JPG, which saves storage and iCloud space. The catch is compatibility: Windows needs an extra codec to open HEIC, and many websites, forms and older apps refuse it.
JPG works everywhere. Converting at 90% quality keeps the photo looking the same while making it easy to upload, email and edit.
Private by design
Photos can reveal a lot, from faces and homes to documents in the background. This converter decodes HEIC on your device, so your photos are never uploaded. To also remove the GPS location and camera details saved inside each photo, run the converted files through Remove Photo Metadata (EXIF).
Frequently asked questions
What is a HEIC file?
HEIC is the photo format iPhones and iPads use by default. It makes files about half the size of JPG, but Windows, many websites and older apps can’t open it.
Why does converting take a few seconds?
HEIC decoding is done by a small program that runs in your browser instead of on a server. Large photos take a moment, especially on older phones.
How do I stop my iPhone saving HEIC?
Go to Settings → Camera → Formats and choose Most Compatible. New photos will then be saved as JPG.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. HushConverts converts everything with code that runs in your browser, so your text and files stay on your device. You can even use most tools offline once the page has loaded.
