How to use the Password Generator tool
- Choose the length and which characters to include.
- Pick how many passwords you want.
- Copy the one you like, or click Generate new.
What makes a password strong
Length matters most. Each extra character multiplies the number of possible passwords, so a random 16-character password is far stronger than a clever 8-character one. Mixing upper and lower case, numbers and symbols helps too, as long as the password is truly random rather than a word with substitutions like P@ssw0rd.
Good habits
- Use a different password for every account, so one leak can’t unlock the others.
- Store passwords in a password manager instead of reusing or writing them down.
- Turn on two-factor authentication for email, banking and anything important.
- Turn on “Avoid look-alikes” if you’ll ever need to type the password by hand.
Passwords are made with your browser’s secure random generator and never leave this page. For random IDs rather than passwords, use the UUID Generator.
Frequently asked questions
How long should a password be?
Use at least 16 characters for important accounts. Length adds more strength than symbols do, and a password manager means you don’t have to remember it.
Is it safe to generate passwords online?
These passwords are created in your browser using the Web Crypto API and never leave your device. Nothing is logged or saved.
What does “bits of entropy” mean?
It measures how hard a password is to guess. Each extra bit doubles the number of guesses needed; 80 bits or more is very strong.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. HushConverts converts everything with code that runs in your browser, so your text and files stay on your device. You can even use most tools offline once the page has loaded.
