How to use the QR Code Generator tool
- Choose what the code is for, then type the link, text or details.
- Pick the size, colors and error correction.
- Download the QR code as PNG or SVG.
Tips for QR codes that scan first time
- Keep the quiet zone. The blank border around the code helps phones find it. Don’t crop it off.
- Use strong contrast. Dark code on a light background works best. Light codes on dark backgrounds don’t scan on some phones.
- Size for the distance. As a rule of thumb, the code should be at least a tenth as wide as the scanning distance: 2 cm across for a business card, much larger for a poster.
- Keep links short. Less data makes a simpler pattern that scans faster and from further away.
- Test it with a couple of phones before printing, or check it with the QR Code Reader.
Wi-Fi codes let guests join your network by pointing their camera at the code, without typing the password. The details are only stored in the image you download.
Frequently asked questions
Do these QR codes expire?
No. They are static codes: the information is stored in the pattern itself, so they keep working forever and don’t depend on any website.
What is error correction?
It lets a code still scan when part of it is dirty, damaged or covered. Higher levels are more robust but make the pattern denser. Medium suits most uses.
Should I download PNG or SVG?
PNG works everywhere, including documents and social posts. SVG scales to any size without blurring, which is best for print.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. HushConverts converts everything with code that runs in your browser, so your text and files stay on your device. You can even use most tools offline once the page has loaded.
