How to use the Remove Photo Metadata tool
- Drop the photos you want to clean.
- Each file shows what was found and removed, such as GPS location.
- Download the clean copies one by one or as a ZIP.
What hidden data can a photo contain?
- GPS location: the exact spot where the photo was taken, often accurate to a few meters. A photo taken at home can reveal your address.
- Date and time the photo was taken.
- Camera or phone model, lens and settings.
- Editing software and sometimes the owner’s name or copyright notes.
How the cleaning works
For JPG photos, the metadata blocks (EXIF, XMP and IPTC) are cut out of the file and the image itself is left untouched, so there is no loss of quality. The color profile is kept so colors look the same. PNG files have their text and date chunks removed, and other formats are re-saved without metadata. Everything happens on your device.
Frequently asked questions
What is EXIF data?
EXIF is information a camera or phone saves inside a photo: the date and time, camera model, settings and often the exact GPS location where it was taken.
Does it reduce quality?
Not for JPG. The metadata is cut out and the image data is left untouched. Photos that rely on a rotation flag are re-saved upright at high quality so they don’t appear sideways.
Do social networks remove EXIF anyway?
Many large ones do, but email, messaging apps, cloud links and many websites keep it. Cleaning photos yourself is the safe option.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. HushConverts converts everything with code that runs in your browser, so your text and files stay on your device. You can even use most tools offline once the page has loaded.
