How to use the URL Slug Generator tool
- Paste one title per line.
- Choose a hyphen or underscore, a maximum length and lowercase.
- Copy the slugs.
What makes a good URL slug
- Short and readable:
/heic-to-jpg-on-windowstells people and search engines what the page is about. - Lowercase with hyphens: avoids duplicate URLs and reads as separate words.
- No dates or numbers that will change, so the URL still fits when you update the page.
- Don’t change it after publishing unless you set up a redirect, or existing links will break.
Accented letters are converted to plain ones (é becomes e, ß becomes ss), and symbols are removed. To change the case of the title itself, use the Case Converter.
Frequently asked questions
Hyphens or underscores?
Use hyphens. Google treats a hyphen as a space between words, while an underscore joins words together.
How long should a slug be?
Short and descriptive works best: three to six words, or under about 60 characters. Remove words that add nothing, such as “a” and “the”.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. HushConverts converts everything with code that runs in your browser, so your text and files stay on your device. You can even use most tools offline once the page has loaded.
